so last night i met someone new. i think that's the first time in a long time that i have actually had a decent conversation with someone face to face who, although was a friend of a friend, was a complete stranger to me.

it was somewhat refreshing getting to know someone from the very beginning. to talk about what we do, what our interests are and where we see ourselves in the near future. it makes it even more enjoyable when both parties are genuinely interested in what you have to say and can relate to each others experiences. it took me a while to calm my nerves and feel comfortable talking to him but once the conversation started to flow, i slowly opened it.

that is partly what i am looking forward to when i travel overseas next year. meeting lots of new people and learning about the experiences that they have had. the other part is making new experiences for myself and exploring parts of the world i have never travelled to.

next year is going to be full of adventure and excitement... i can't wait!

so its nearly been a whole month since my last post. sorry for the lack of updates. life has been keeping me busy.

but even though it has been busy, i'd have to say... life's good.

i'm enjoying the new, challenging and sometimes unexpected events that have come my way so far. i'm learning new things, becoming a better teacher, meeting new people, catching up with old friends and planning an exciting future.

but not everyday has been blue skies and care free. there have been some days where i don't understand why some things happen. why things have to change. why people think, say or do the things they think, say or do. but there's a little voice inside my head that tells me little things aren't worth stressing over.
it doesn't matter if you meet up for lunch with a group of friends and one of them doesn't even acknowledge your presence. the other friends are more important.
it doesnt matter if you organise a big event at school with no help from the other colleague who is suppose to be helping you. the outcome of the event was a big success and you learnt how to manage your time better.
it doesn't matter if you haven't contacted or seen a friend for ages and feel bad about it. you made the effort to contact them now and had a lovely time catching up.

highlights of the past month:
- school has been so busy but productive that i can't believe i have only 4 more weeks to go till the end of term. my coordinator has told me (not asked, told me) to take a day off this week as i hardly take any days off even when i'm not feeling 100%. I've had a cold since last week and am recovering but will probably take my coordinators advice and have one day off. its so hard though to find a day which won't disrupt my lessons for the week!
- my good friend and colleague left on maternity leave 2 weeks ago. struggled for the first week without her but have gotten along well with her replacement who is scottish!
- have enjoyed meeting up with friends for brunch/lunch/dinner on the weekends... especially meeting up with people who i havent seen in ages, two weekends in a row! :)
- went to my first, and most probably my last, football match on friday night.

alright, that's all from me for now.
