After about 20 tries at reverse parallel I finally got it right. And not just once... twice! haha. I think my dad is a better instructor than my RACV one. My instructor is quite hopeless when it comes to teaching me strategies. He basically just leaves me on my own to figure out. Sure, I need to learn things on my own and that he can't teach me every little detail, but hey, he could at least give me some pointers.
For example, I was doing a reverse parallel the other day with my instructor and it was my very first time ever! So obviously I had no idea how to do one properly. So during my lesson, he suddenly told me to pull over and stop beside this car. So I did. And he said to me, 'Okay, let's try a reverse parallel park.' Ok, so I started reversing back (only knowing this from watching other people) and was waiting for him to tell me to do something and all he said was 'Ok, turn'. So I did. I was reversing and saw that the car was getting too much on an angle but he didn't say anything. Obviously I didn't want to hit the car so I started turning the other way. 'No! Why are you turning? It's too early. You're too far out!' What the...??? Calm down buddy, not like you were helping or anything. Geez. He's like, 'I didn't tell you to turn the other way!' Yeah, but it looked like I was going to bang the car and I got scared. It is my very first time I've done this. He could have been a bit nicer about it.
So anyways, since then, I've wanted to learn reverse parallel with dad before I go on another lesson with him. And thankfully I got to learn tonight with dad coz I have a lesson tomorrow. But my dad was so nice about it. When you need help with something, my dad is always willing to help. And yes, I was a little scared that we would get into a big argument because he would stress over me hitting something or wateva, but it turned out better than I expected. I actually learnt some pointers on how to do a reverse parallel park. I love it when I actually learn something and know how to do it on my own. Especially with driving. It gives me a real confidence boost. And tonight, I am definitely quite proud of myself, thanks to dad of course. No thanks to my instructor. Geez, what do I pay him for?!
One step closer to getting my Barina!
