Went to the Australian Open yesterday for the very first time. It was an interesting experience. I went with Mel, Sara and Anna. We also met up with Lingdi, Ruoran, Siyan, Kelv and Yao but we didn't stick together.

So the day started with the four gurls catching the train down to Richmond Station and then from there walking to the entrance to buy tickets. We stood in line for about 20mins before getting a family ticket. Yes, a family ticket, I didn't know that us four were related?! lolz A family ticket is usually for 2 adults (people over 18) and 2 children. So we couldn't all go up and buy tickets otherwise they would have suspected something. So, Sara and I went up to buy the family ticket and we had to lie *innocent look* about having our brother and sister with us. haha. But they don't check for ID or anything which is bad for them, good for us! hehe. So instead of paying $27, we only paid 18.75 each! :D Score! hehe. anyways, we got our tickets and off we went.

My ticket! hehe

Our first stop was the Vodafone arena. We queued for what seemed like AGES! It was only about 30mins though or less. But I never knew you actually had to line up to see matches. lolz. One of the security guards came out and told us that the arena was really packed and that it would be a 1-2hr wait before we would get in. PPfftt, what a liar! lolz. It didn't scare us off coz we had the pros with us - Mel and Anna - and they knew it wouldn't take that long. So we stayed. Though others couldn't be bothered and they left, which made the line shorter for us! hehe YAY!

So, we eventually got into the arena to watch... erm... I'm not quite sure who we watched. All I know was that their first names were Richard and Tommy. Only because there were people yelling out their names throughout the match. lolz. Oh wait, I remember, Richard Gasquet and Tommy Haas. Tommy Haas, from Germany, was the favourite and he won. It was a good match though. Some very nice shots. We couldn't get seats down the front at first so we had to sit way up the top. Anna and Mel wanted better seats so after about 10mins they went looking for other seats closer to the court. And they found some which was good.

After that match finished, Anna wanted to get Freebies from the Garnier tent. The line was soooo long! So long that we couldn't be bothered lining up. Instead we were waiting near the courts of where the players practice. Oh, oh, I found a relaly cute player, Thomas Johansson! hehe... he's sucha cutie! I didn't get a photo of him though. Will have to get it off Anna. He looks so young but Mel said he's about 28 or something and married :( lolz

We watched another match. Paradorn Srichaphan vs Nicolas Kiefer. I was going for Paradorn but he lost :( OMG! Sitting in the sun was crazy! The sun was so hot! I could feel my skin burning! I applied so much sunscreen on yesterday that I now have rashes because I'm allergic to it! Great! To get burnt or get rashes... not very appealing choices.

We left about halfway during their match to go back to the vodafone arena and watch a women's match between Yoon Jeong Cho and Kim Clijsters. There seemed to be a big difference in the way men and women play. The women seemed... somewhat slower. lolz. And the games were so much shorter. We sat there for about 30 - 40mins and it was over. Clijsters had won. There were these stoopid guys who sat behind us who were so annoying! They were such attention seekers. They kept yelling out all these stupid things trying to get attention. And then when the crowd would clap, they would try to clap as loud as they could. grrr... poor sara and i were going deaf!

Well, after that short match was over, we decided to give the Garnier tent another go. And this time we actually stayed to line up! We lined up for 2.5 hours!!! It was crazy! But I guess it was worth it. We got either a free massage, free facial or free hairdo. I got a hairdo. So did Sara. Mel and Anna got a massage. While we were waiting for turn in the 2.5hour wait, a crowd was gathered near the big screen tv to see the Lleyton Hewitt match against Robin Vik. Of course Hewitt won! :D

Waiting in line

It was 8:30ish... nearly 9 and we were all so tired. Our feet were killing us so we headed home. It was definitely a good day out with the gurls. I enjoyed it... more than I thought I would. I must admit, it took a while to get into the whole tennis thing, but yeah, I did have fun.

On the train home with very sore feet

End of a long day but satisfied
