One step closer to fulfulling part of my dream.
I went to a VIT (Vitctorian Institute of Teaching) information thingy today. It was quite helpful. It went through how to register as a teacher and how to fill out the application forms properly. But it was also helpful in the fact that it made me realise how close I really am to becoming a teacher.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher... or to do something with kids. During VCE I thought about becoming a child psychologist... actually I still am thinking of becoming one but not just yet. Its funny how I've thought about life up until uni but beyond that, well its never really been seriously thought out. Like I've always known that I'd go to primary school, then highschool, complete VCE, get into a teaching course (never thought about applying for any other course) and study for however many years. But I've never really thought about what happens after I graduate and becoming a teacher. Sure I've thought about the future in the past in the fact that the other part of my dream is to go overseas to teach, but I always viewed that as been so far away that I didn't have to worry about accomplishing it now. But just think, 4 years has passed so quickly. In another 4 years I could be off to the UK or Japan or Italy! It's really not that far away.
Lately I keep repeating in my head 'I'm going to become a teacher!' To be so close to making a dream come true is an amazing feeling. A teacher! migosh... it sounds so surreal everytime I think about it. Yet I really am going to become one in less than 6 months. Its a scary thought yet so exciting. And unlike most people, I can't wait to start work!!! The process of becoming a teacher is tough though. There is a lot of paperwork and research to be done before applying for a job. But once you pass all that and start teaching, I guess its worth the effort.
