i was punched by a grade 2 student today :( wasn't out of aggression though. he just doesn't know his boundaries.

i was out on yard duty and spotted him by himself in the yard. i had looked after him last week because he had a sore tooth. so being the kind and caring teacher i am, i walked up to him and asked him how he was. he smiles at me and then punched me in the back!

but things you should know about him:
- he doesn't speak english... well not much
- he's new to the school
- family just moved from korea

so knowing all that, i just gave him the benefit of the doubt. i think he was just playing with me... but didn't know that he can't hit a teacher (or anyone else for that matter). so i didn't think much of it. i did, however, notify his class teacher who immediately dealt with the situation by bringing him inside to apologize to me and to sit outside the staffroom for the rest of lunch. i thought that that was more than enough punishment for him, knowing his background. so i thought that would be the end of it.

but after school i was told i had to fill in the situation in the incident book. apparently, our AP had spoken to his parents about the situation (without consulting me for the right story) and said that if he ever did it again, he would be suspended! suspended?! i was so shocked that that was even an option! now that's taking it too far! he just didn't know his boundaries. poor boy, i felt sorry for him.

he's probably going to WANT to hit me now... for putting him through all this. i hope his parents aren't too harsh on him. >.<
